The Ballston Journal is YOUR hometown newspaper serving the up and coming communities of Ballston Spa, Malta, Ballston, Milton and the surrounding localities of Saratoga County since 1798. It is THE local news source with a proud tradition of community journalism that has endured for 211 years making it one of the oldest newspapers in the country.
The paper is written for and about the people who live in and around 12020 and it offers advertisers a way to reach the growing neighborhood of Ballston Spa where they live, in a newspaper they depend on and trust.
Up until April, 2009, the newspaper had been operated by members of the Hogan/Grose family until the paper was sold to local publisher, Angela McFarland in hopes of preserving its long-standing service to the community for the next generation.
McFarland is a 12-year Ballston Spa resident and life-long Capital District veteran. She publishes two additional media with hyper-centric neighborhood focus: Our Towne Ballston Spa, Our Towne Saratoga West and started in a career of advertising over 15 years ago with Columbia County’s Independent Newspaper.
The Ballston Journal is a proud member of the New York Press Association, The Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association as well as the Malta Business and Professional Association.
